Qlik Code: A Full Tour of the VS Code Extension for Qlik Cloud
If you write Qlik load scripts for a living, you probably know the Data load editor well. You may also have wished for a better place to write them.
Qlik Code is a Visual Studio Code extension from Qlik that lets you edit your Qlik Cloud load scripts in VS Code instead. It connects to your tenant, so you can browse spaces, apps, and scripts, then edit and sync them from your editor. You get syntax highlighting, completions, hover help, and diagnostics for the Qlik script language.
In the new Data Voyagers video, I go through every feature:
Installing the extension and authenticating with Qlik Cloud
Browsing spaces and apps
Editing load scripts with direct or local editing options
Inserting content to load files from the data catalog, a data connection, or existing script assets like QVS files
Reloading apps to validate and preview data
Viewing the data model and previewing table data
Opening apps in Qlik Cloud from your browser
Two things to know before you try it. Qlik Code is for developers who already work in Qlik Cloud, and it does not replace the activity centers. Managing spaces, sheets, and app permissions still happens there.
