Qlik's New MCP Tools Let AI Build, Script, and Reload Your Apps
Qlik keeps adding to its MCP server, and the latest addition is worth a closer look: a set of tools built specifically for the Application Script Lifecycle. Instead of just letting an LLM read metadata or apply filters, these tools hand it the keys to actually build something - create an app, write or rewrite its load script, kick off a reload, and check the results.
The lineup includes qlik_create_app, qlik_get_script and qlik_update_script for the load script itself, qlik_start_app_reload, qlik_get_reload_status, qlik_get_reload_log and qlik_cancel_app_reload for running and monitoring reloads, and qlik_get_data_model for confirming what the reload actually produced. Put together, it's a full loop: an assistant can draft a script, fire off a reload, read the log if something breaks, fix the script, and try again - with no one touching the Qlik Sense hub in between.
We tested this end to end in the latest video: asking an AI assistant to spin up a new app, build a load script from a real dataset, reload it, and hand back a summary of the resulting data model. It's a good look at how close agentic workflows are getting to actually managing a Qlik Cloud environment, not just querying it.
